U.S. Army Features OHAUS DefenderTM Scales in Capitol Hill Briefing Targeting Soldier Body Armor
OHAUS Defender 3000 Bench Scales used to compare weights of body
armor for US Army Troops
The OHAUS Corporation, a leading manufacturer of balances for
industrial, laboratory, education and specialty markets worldwide,
saw its new DefenderTM 3000 Series Bench Scales help settle a
national debate.
The U.S. Army has been testing its standard issue Interceptor body
armor against a newer product, called "Dragon Skin," and the
testing has lead to a debate over whether the Interceptor body
armor is the best product to protect American troops. Part of
the Army's recommendation to stay with the Interceptor body armor
was based on the weight of the protective vests.
Using two OHAUS Defender 3000 bench scales at a Capitol Hill
briefing for lawmakers and staff on May 24, Army representatives
proved the Interceptor body armor is 19.5 pounds lighter than
Dragon Skin, indicating this lower weight as an additional benefit
for troops in the field.
The Defender 3000 Series is a new line of OHAUS bench scale
products for industrial and laboratory use. The Defender 3000
are simple, yet rugged, bench scales that are ideal for general
weighing and simple counting applications. For instance,
warehouse and shipping and receiving departments can use the scales
to get quick, accurate weights of boxes before shipping.
